Israeli and Palestinian supporters rally across US after Hamas attack

In cities all over the United States, people who support Israel and Palestinians came together on Sunday. They gathered to show their support and to express their concerns about the terrible conflict happening in the Middle East. This conflict has led to the deaths of many people and has left many others injured.

In New York City, near the United Nations, there was a clash between groups of people who supported different sides. In Times Square, a large group of people supporting Palestinians rallied, and this led to tension with those who support Israel. Meanwhile, in Atlanta and Chicago, Palestinian Americans protested outside Israeli consulates. This was a very upsetting time for Jewish communities and organizations because it happened during an important Jewish holiday called Simchat Torah.

In San Francisco, a group of Jewish people gathered at one of the oldest synagogues in the United States, called Congregation Sherith Israel. Some students from Israel who were studying in a city called Beersheba, near Gaza, were visiting San Francisco. They wanted to go back to Israel to help their families who were living close to the conflict zone. One of them, Yuval Appleboim, talked about how his family was facing danger. He also mentioned that he has a friend who left his newborn daughter to serve in the military.

Yuval Appleboim emphasized that many Israelis want peace with the Palestinian people, but the terrorist organization attacking Israel doesn't care about anyone's life, not even the lives of Palestinians.

Yael Shafrir, another person in San Francisco, said that even though it was hard to come to the gathering, it was essential to feel the support from people around the world. She explained that they do not want to harm innocent people in Gaza; they are fighting against a terror organization.

Hatem Abudayyeh, a leader of a Palestinian organization in the U.S., expressed concern about the death toll and injuries but also talked about the strong resistance among Palestinians. He mentioned that they are coordinating efforts across the country to support their communities.

In San Francisco, there were pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrations happening at the same time. They were separated by the police. They chanted slogans and waved flags, but tensions were high. People on both sides felt strongly about their beliefs.
