Americans may be among the dead and those taken hostage in Israel-Hamas war, Blinken says

Americans might be among the people who have died or are being held hostage as Hamas militants attack Israel. Secretary of State Antony Blinken talked about this on Sunday.

"We heard that some Americans might have died," he said on NBC's "Meet the Press." The State Department is trying to confirm these reports and also check if any Americans are being held hostage in Israel because of the war.

If these reports are true, the United States will work to get them released. Blinken said, "If any American, anywhere, is being held against their will, it's important for this government to help them."

But he also mentioned that they need to make sure the information is correct before taking any action. "We have reports that we need to confirm."

The total number of people who have died in Israel and Gaza is about 1,000. It's not clear how many of them are Americans.

Blinken expressed his strong feelings about the situation on ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." He said, "The world should be disgusted by this. It's a terrible terrorist attack that is harming innocent Israeli people in their towns and homes." Please Share This Article Thank You
