Jim Harbaugh Laments Suspension, Keeping Him From No. 2 Michigan Opener Against East Carolina

Jim Harbaugh is usually really busy on Saturdays in the fall. But this time, when the 2nd-ranked Michigan team plays against East Carolina at the Big House, Harbaugh won't be there. He's starting a three-game suspension because he broke NCAA rules.

Instead, Harbaugh might consider going to his son's game or watching his team on TV, but he's unsure. He said, "It's uncharted waters."

Harbaugh has faced injuries before when he played as a quarterback, but this suspension feels different to him. He compared it to getting hit with a baseball bat on the kneecaps.

During the game, defensive coordinator Jesse Minter will step in for Harbaugh. Harbaugh said, "When you're the head coach during the game, you're the guardian of victory. That's a tremendous responsibility."

Offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore also got suspended for one game due to NCAA rule violations. Kirk Campbell, the quarterbacks coach, will call plays instead of Moore, and an analyst will step up to help with the coaching staff.

Minter mentioned that they want to play well for Harbaugh despite his absence.
