The 2024 GOP presidential candidates had their second debate on Wednesday night. Former President Donald Trump didn't show up, so the candidates focused on each other and President Joe Biden. They didn't talk about Trump's legal problems during the debate.

One candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, got into some heated arguments. He recently joined Chinese-owned TikTok, and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said she felt dumber every time she heard him talk. Senator Tim Scott accused Ramaswamy of doing business with the Chinese communist party because of his biotech company's partnership with a Chinese investment firm.

They didn't bring up the 91 criminal charges against Trump or a recent court ruling that said he cheated lenders and had to close his New York-owned businesses.

Chris Christie and Ron DeSantis criticized Trump for not coming to the debate. Christie called him "Donald Duck," and DeSantis said Trump was "missing in action." This was different from the first debate when DeSantis didn't criticize Trump.

When asked about a strike by auto workers, Mike Pence, Haley, and Scott blamed Biden. Scott said Biden should be on the border, not at the strike. Pence said Biden's policies were causing inflation. Haley criticized government spending under Biden.

Haley and Scott argued with each other on stage. At one point, Haley told Scott to "bring it" after he criticized her for proposing a gas tax and for something she didn't do when she was the UN ambassador.

Scott talked about a new education curriculum in Florida that teaches kids about slavery. He said there was nothing good about slavery but compared it to other things like welfare, poll taxes, literacy tests, and discrimination.

DeSantis defended the new curriculum and said Vice President Kamala Harris was making up stories about it. He said it was developed by great Black history scholars.

According to a poll, 54% of voters plan to support Trump in the GOP primary. DeSantis is next with 14%, followed by Haley and Ramaswamy with 6%, Pence with 5%, Christie and Scott with 3%, and Burgum with 1%.

Seven candidates met the requirements for the debate: DeSantis, Ramaswamy, Haley, Scott, Pence, Christie, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum. Asa Hutchinson, a former Arkansas Gov., qualified for the first debate but didn't make it to this one. Meanwhile, Trump gave a speech in Michigan at an auto-parts plant that's not part of a union. He blamed the strike on Biden's push for electric vehicles, which the union is concerned about. Biden visited striking UAW workers in Detroit to show his support.

The strike involves 18,000 UAW workers at GM, Ford, and Stellantis plants. Both Biden and Trump are trying to win over these blue-collar workers in Michigan. Biden wants better wages and cost of living increases, while Trump has criticized union leaders and said electric cars will take jobs away.

Trump briefly mentioned the debate during his Michigan speech and suggested that the candidates were trying out for positions in his future government. A Trump campaign advisor even suggested canceling future debates because they thought the debate didn't change anything in the race dominated by Trump. Please Share This Article Thankyou...
