WWE’s ‘Friday Night Smackdown’ moving from Fox to USA Network under a 5-year deal with NBCUniversal

The popular TV show, "Friday Night Smackdown" from WWE, is going to change channels. It used to be on Fox, but next year it will move to the USA Network. This is part of a new partnership between WWE and NBCUniversal, which will last for five years.

"Smackdown" is a two-hour show that happens every week and has famous wrestlers like Roman Reigns, Charlotte Flair, Rey Mysterio, and Bianca Belair. Many people between 18 and 49 years old watch it, and it's been getting good ratings lately because of wrestlers like John Cena and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson making surprise appearances.

You can catch "Smackdown" on the USA Network starting in October 2024. Before this, it was on Fox because they had a deal that started in October 2019. Before Fox, "Smackdown" was on the USA Network from 2016 to 2019.

They didn't tell us how much money WWE and NBCUniversal agreed on for this deal.

As part of this deal, WWE will also make four special shows each year that will air on NBC, starting in the 2024/2025 season. This is the first time WWE will be on NBC in prime time.

The President of WWE, Nick Khan, said, "NBCUniversal has been a great partner for WWE for a long time. We are excited to keep working together and bring Smackdown to USA Network on Friday nights. We're also looking forward to having special WWE events on NBC."

Right now, the USA Network already shows "WWE NXT" and "WWE Monday Night Raw." These two shows will stay on the network until September 2024.

The chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment, Frances Berwick, said, "We're happy to keep working with WWE, and it's been a big part of why USA Network is so popular for live viewership."

WWE is now part of TKO Group Holdings Inc., which started trading on the New York Stock Exchange last week.

Endeavor Group Holdings Inc. has finished its deal with World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. This means WWE and the company that runs Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) are now together in a big sports entertainment company worth $21.4 billion. Please Share This Article
